What a difference a year makes…

November 2022 marks a year of Operation Relocation

This time last year we still hadn’t moved but I’d started two of my weekly classes in the new area and my husband had been doing his new job since August!

So I just wanted to take a minute to reflect on how the last year has gone; where we’re at now; and what’s coming up…

For the first month or so there were just 3 classes a week in Ellesmere Port and Rossett. By January this had gone up to 7, by Easter it was at 10 and then 14 by July across Ellesmere Port, Cheshire West and North Wales.

Sincere thanks go to Gemma from Dancing Gemz
Judith from CEPD
and all at Cheshire Dance
for helping me to get out there in the north, sharing my love for dance with the people in my local(ish) community

The new school year got off to a strong start and this week (mid Nov) there will be 16 classes in schools, care homes, dance academies and community settings, mostly in person, just one on Zoom.

Here’s what a typical week looks like at the moment…

A typical week at abDance

Along side the ongoing Ballet, Zumba and Dance fitness classes, AcroDance classes have been added to the schedule now that I’ve taken my Module One training with Acrobatic Arts, and many of my adult classes are having a dose of Strictly magic with our Strictly Challenge – to create and learn a new dance every week, inspired by the dances and music from the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing

January 2023 will see the start of classes ready for the Ellesmere Port Dance Festival organised by the Ellesmere Port School Sports Partnership. All 23 primary schools in Ellesmere Port will be invited to take part, they will learn routines taught by a team of local freelance dance teachers over January to March with the performance taking place on Thursday 16th March at Ellesmere Port Civic Hall.

Things ‘should’ calm down a bit from March 2023 so if you would like to see how abDance can help support the learning and development of the people (children and adults) in your settings please get in touch – ali@abdance.co.uk
